Rotary Endodontics
Rotary Endodontics has revolutionized one of the most feared and dreaded of all dental procedures, the infamous "root canal". By way of this new state-of-the-art method, the doctor utilizes an electric handpiece to perform the procedure. In addition, the utilization of specialized accessory equipment in our office, including apex locators and Nickel-Titanium files, allows the doctor to clean and shape the canals faster than older methods using hand files and taking multiple x-rays. And because it's electric, the files rotate at a consistent speed, shaping and cleaning the canals, and there is no "drill" noise. This makes the whole treatment experience much more pleasant and most patients after treatment say "What's so bad about a root canal, I have heard awful things about them, but there's nothing to it!"
This has been one aspect of dentistry that technology has made a significant impact. By way of making the procedure predictable, quicker, and less time-consuming (often completed in a one-hour visit or less), many patients have had the benefits of saving teeth that they otherwise may have extracted.
